Say hello to my little friend

I got the most wonderful gift for Christmas this year.  It's called a Silhouette Machine.  It is a cutting machine that will cut different shapes/letters/you name it.

Charlie does not like said machine because it takes the attention away from her.  She also does not like it because, when she brings her tennis ball and drops it at my feet, I ignore it.

It comes with a computer program where you line everything up and create the designs.  I have been using Grandma's old computer for the program and my iPad so that I can watch tv while I work.  It's a pretty snazzy set up.

All you have to do is line up the paper once you have created your design and press "cut the page."  The little blad moves side to side, while the paper/mat moves back and forth.

Dad thought it was so interesting that he even took his glasses off to watch.  And if you know my dad at all, you know that means he is taking a much closer look.

The end result is pretty amazing.  Each letter is cut individually.  The detail is incredible.  Each letter you see here is about 3/4 of an inch.  Unfortunately, I didn't bring home any of the other tools I need to put it all together, so I guess I'll just have to wait until I go back to York.

Christmas in Philly

I got an email from Esther on Friday saying "this is your last chance to come to Philly with us tomorrow."  She has been planning a trip to Philly with Char, Frank and Cam.  I had been saying no because I was going to be driving home the next Wednesday and I couldn't afford the gas.

As I was writing her back to say no again, I figured, why not?  I'm very glad I changed my mind.  Though the city is not my favorite place (Esther and Char can attest to that), we had a great time.  And just in case you don't frequent Facebook, here are a few of the pictures we took (and by "a few" I really mean "a ton").

This is the elevator at Anthropologie.  The cuteness of the decor definitely made up for the scariness of the elevator.

Taking a chilly walk in Philly.  Cam was all bundled up and loving it.  We were loving how cute he looked all bundled up.

Waiting for the light show to start at Macy's.

We pretty much just took pictures the whole day.

Cam loves water bottles and Char apparently loves Macy's.

One of my favorites.

Frozen drinking chocolate.  It was truly delicious and very filling.

The label on the back of the board said "Christkind Angel" and "Santa."  But it should have said "armless princess" and "judge."

Another one of my favorites.  Those eyes!  They kill me!

This cheesesteak was truly delicious.  I want another.  Right now.
 Cam enjoyed the show.

Esther enjoyed watching Cam enjoy the show.

Oh the baby cheeks.

Adorable!

Super cute picture with very pretty colors.

Another adorable photo.

All bundled up.

He was flirting with the lady next to us and she liked it very much.

Aunt Esther gives a good ride.

Deck the Halls

I love decorating for Christmas.  Christmas decorations make the apartment seem cozy and warm.  The family tradition was to wait until December 1 for Christmas music, movies and decoration.  I can't wait that long.  The day after Thanksgiving is when I start scheming.  Actually, that's not true.  I start scheming around late September.

The tree is my favorite part.  I love the lights, the ornaments and the scent.  It's a wonderful tradition.  Have I spent December in York for the past two years.  For the past two years Mom has helped me get the tree inside, set it up and decorate.  I love it.  It's nice to have someone to decorate with.

Mom, Char and Est got me this ornament for our White Christmas party.  It's all glass and it's so beautiful.  If you flip the switch on the bottom it changes color.  Love it!!

I even decorated the bathroom.  I told you I love decorating.  This actually may be my favorite room that is decorated.  It's so unexpected that it still surprises me that there are garland and ornaments in the bathroom.

I found instructions for those ornaments online.  They were so easy to make and turned out so nice!  I want to make more, but I have no where to put them.  This one is my favorite.

"He puzzled and puzzled till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas... perhaps... means a little bit more!"

White Christmas Party 2010

In case you didn't already know, White Christmas is the best Christmas movie of all time.  It is a family tradition to watch the movie together.  Last year, this tradition fell flat.  We all wanted to watch the movie together, but couldn't find the time.

This year, I took matters into my own hands.  We planned our party months ahead of time to make sure that we could carry our this tradition.  It was so nice to spend time together and watch our favorite movie of the season.

As soon as they arrived I put them straight to work while I played with Cam.  Ok, they volunteered, but I still got to play with Cam.

The food was absolutely delicious.  There were so many choices!  Esther made pigs in a blanket, Charlotte brought and cut fruit and Mom make spinach dip and brie.  At the back of the table you can see all the candy choices as well.  It was very good and I'm still eating the leftovers.

Cam really wanted the food.

He eventually got to eat his own food.  We had to play peek-a-boo to get him to smile for this picture.  White Christmas 2010 was a success and I can't wait for next year!
